In Bangladesh, the electrification rate officially stands at 100%, but this figure masks a reality of energy insecurity: per capita consumption remains very low, at around 3,000 kWh, and the country consumes five times more electricity than it produces (529 TWh compared to 106 TWh in 2024). The grid remains fragile and of poor quality, exacerbating the difficulties of reliable access to energy. To address these challenges, Urban Product is working with local energy experts to ensure appropriate installations and sustainable after-sales service. With a diaspora representing 5% of the population, or 8.7 million people, and remittances of more than $22 billion (5% of GDP), the Fair Energy model transforms this potential into reliable energy solutions that benefit communities.
