Fair Energy 24 : La référence

We are delighted to announce that the solar electrification project for the La Référence bilingual school group is part of our Fair Energy 2024 campaign! Located in Nkomassi, on the outskirts of Yaoundé, this school, founded in 2005, has 330 pupils and 24 members of staff. Faced with frequent power cuts and high costs, the school needed a sustainable solution to power its classrooms, administrative block, computer room and water pump. By installing solar panels, we will be able to provide reliable, cost-effective energy, thereby enhancing safety and improving learning conditions.

The bilingual secular private school “La Référence” is a primary and nursery school founded in 2005 by a Cameroonian couple concerned about contributing to the education of disadvantaged populations living in a peripheral neighborhood with a very low socioeconomic index in Yaoundé, the capital of Cameroon.

Located in Nkomassi, in the Yaoundé 7 district (Nkolbisson), this school has 330 students, 20 teaching staff, and 4 administrative and technical staff. It has about 18 classrooms, an administrative block, a computer room, and a library (multimedia room). For its electricity supply, it has a standard electrical installation subscribed to from the sole provider, which mainly powers the administrative block (lighting and powering computers and other office equipment), the classrooms, the computer and multimedia room, and the submersible pump for water supply (approximately 106 light bulbs, 13 desktops, 1 submersible pump, and 1 printer). Public lighting is nonexistent, exposing the school to multiple theft incidents.

Due to the economic situation, the availability of electrical energy is not guaranteed: power outages are recurrent, and in general, the available energy struggles to meet the school’s needs, aside from being far too expensive.

The solar panel installation project is, in this respect, essential. Indeed, its goal is to provide the entire school with regular, stable, and cost-effective electrical energy. The aim is to power all the systems described above and make them more functional, as the unavailability of energy and frequent outages cause regular breakdowns in the submersible pump and office equipment.

Ideally, we need 4 725€ to complete the solar electrification of school, which requires a total investment of 9 450€. Thanks to the Synergie renouvelable Foundation, every donation will be doubled, maximizing the impact of your generosity. A basic installation can be installed from €5 500 for this, so we need a minimum of €2 750 support.
