Fair Energy 24 : Zalom

We are delighted to announce that the solar electrification project for the Actions-Puits pour tous les Peuples reception centre and school in Zalom is part of our Fair Energy 2024 campaign! Located 15 km from Yaoundé, these two establishments cater for more than 350 children and regularly experience power cuts, disrupting teaching activities and the water supply. Thanks to this project, we will be able to provide stable energy, thus improving the living and learning conditions of these children. Your support is essential to make this project possible!

Ideally, we need 8 630€ to carry out the solar electrification of the Zalom center, which requires a total investment of 17 260€. Thanks to Fondation Synergie renouvelable, every donation will be matched, maximizing the impact of your generosity. A basic installation can be installed from €5 500 for this, so we need a minimum of €2 750 support.

Since 2010, the Swiss NGO “Actions-Puits pour tous les Peuples” has been committed to improving the living conditions of rural communities in Cameroon. As part of this mission, “Actions-Puits” is pleased to announce a new solar electrification project for its center for children in distress and its primary and nursery school in Zalom. “Actions-Puits” is assisted by the Belgian group AMI (Amici Medici y Enginieri), composed of general medical practitioners and engineers, focusing on health, infrastructure, and financial support.

Located 15 km from Yaoundé, the “Actions-Puits” center and school are situated in the semi-rural village of Zalom, on the outskirts of Yaoundé. Together, they host more than 350 children, who have so far suffered from frequent power outages (3-4 days a week, with blackouts lasting 4 to 8 hours), disrupting educational activities and daily life at both facilities, such as water supply for meal preparation and water for showers and toilets.

This solar installation, a sustainable and efficient solution, will enable the center and the school to be powered by solar energy. This durable system will improve learning conditions, allowing students to benefit from sufficient lighting for studying, access to computers for IT classes, and more efficient administration.

The water pump in these facilities will be powered by solar energy, ensuring uninterrupted access to water for the residents, students, staff, and the community.

By replacing fossil fuel energy with clean and renewable energy, this project contributes to the fight against climate change.

This solar electrification project aligns perfectly with the mission of “Actions-Puits”, which aims to improve the quality of life for rural populations. By providing reliable and sustainable energy to the Zalom school, the association helps offer the residents and students a more conducive learning environment for success, promotes sustainable development by adopting innovative and environmentally friendly solutions, and strengthens ties with the community.
