Created in 2018 in western Cameroon, the Cameroon Agro-Industrial Farm (FERMAGRIC) is a sustainable poultry project that supports local communities by strengthening food security and combating malnutrition. The initiative offers employment and training opportunities to young mothers in particular, thereby helping to reduce poverty, rural exodus, and illegal migration.
The lack of an electricity grid remains a major obstacle to its development. Access to reliable energy is essential for connecting a water pump, installing cooling systems to preserve products, providing lighting, and improving worker comfort.
The solution chosen is the installation of a solar system in partnership with Solarly, which guarantees professional implementation and sustainable maintenance. This transition to solar energy will significantly reduce operating costs while ensuring a stable and clean energy supply. The non-profit organization Urban Product is mobilizing the diaspora and Belgian partners to facilitate this transition.

The FERMAGRIC project already benefits from support from the City of Aalst in the amount of €2,000. The remaining balance of €4,527.41 must be covered by the ongoing Fair Energy fundraising campaign in order to enable the installation of the solar energy system and strengthen the farm’s self-sufficiency.
