The village of Xaaxi has no electricity grid. The community centre, a meeting place and hub for residents, still runs on expensive, polluting and unreliable generators. The project involves the installation of a solar power plant by Clearsky Power, which will provide sustainable and continuous electricity.
This new infrastructure will provide lighting for the centre, enable the recharging of telephones and computers essential for communication with the outside world, and allow for the installation of equipment such as refrigerators for the storage of food and medicines. Access to energy will thus improve the daily life, safety and autonomy of the community.
The project is facilitated by the non-profit organisation Urban Product through its Fair Energy initiative, which mobilises the diaspora to support funding. The installation is a lever for local development and will include training for local managers to ensure the maintenance and sustainability of the system.
