Bamendjing

Bamendjing is a second-degree traditional chieftaincy located in the Galim Subdivision. It falls under the administration of the Galim Council, in the Bamboutos Department of the West Region. It is 25 km from Bafoussam, the regional capital of the West.

Understanding the solar streetlight project in the Bamendjing area

The solar streetlight project aims to light the roads and pathways of villages across the Bamendjing area. It was initiated by the community to improve families’ living conditions. The project will enhance safety and the sense of security, strengthen social cohesion, and engage residents in the region’s sustainable development. Concretely, it provides for the installation of 150 solar streetlights in the villages of the Bamendjing area. This will improve local livelihoods, increase the safety of people and property, and reinforce social cohesion and community dynamism in Bamendjing.

How does the community participate?

During implementation, the various villages in the area (under the leadership of the Development Committee) must make a collective contribution of at least 20% of the total project budget. This contribution is provided in kind, in the form of the poles on which the solar lamps will be mounted. The communities will also supply the necessary labour for installation.

Support the public-lighting project for the villages of the Bamendjing grouping

This project will strengthen social cohesion, better protect this development enclave in western Cameroon from malicious intrusions, and boost the momentum of sustainable development.

Objectives: Improve the population’s living environment, reduce insecurity, enhance social cohesion, and foster community development.

Your support enables the professional installation of 150 solar lights across the Bamendjing grouping. The lights, floodlights with a panel and battery, are donated by the Signify Foundation, while the poles are provided and installed by the community, which also commits to ongoing maintenance.
