The Tikki Hywood Foundation (THF) was founded in 1994 in Zimbabwe and focuses on the protection of lesser-known species, with a particular emphasis on pangolins. Pangolins are considered to be the ‘most illegally traded mammal in the world’ due to the trade in their meat and scales. With over 30 years’ experience, THF is a pioneer in the rescue, rehabilitation and release of pangolins in Africa (see video).La Fondation Tikki Hywood (THF) (see video

In 2021, the THF branch in Cameroon was set up to combat the illegal trade in pangolins, in collaboration with the local government. To this end, a centre has been set up in the Mefou National Park, 50 km south of the capital Yaoundé. With a team of 13 people, 120 to 150 pangolins are captured, cared for and released back into the wild each year.

There is no electricity network in this region. An installation of 10 solar panels of 550 Wp each with 9600 Wh batteries will provide continuous electricity. The installation mainly supplies electricity to our daily facilities for animal care and team accommodation: lights, fridge, freezer, microwave oven, fan, computer charging, mobile phone, printer use, hot water boiler, etc. .

Installation and after-sales service are provided by the experienced installer Solarly Cameroun, fundraising is supported by UP! Energise.
